Meet Lyra (CG8 RS)
Name/ID: Lyra (CG8 RS)
Species: Rhacodactylus auriculatus
Lay Date: Unknown
Hatch Date: 06/18/2018 (Approximately)
Origin: “Lyra” was produced by Chris Wilkinson/Geckos (The Motley Gecko) out of his “Rain” x “Sprinkle” pairing in the early summer of 2018. She was purchased by Autumn Berguson/Bergies Geckoyles on October 18, 2018, upon arrival she weighed 4 to 5 grams. She was sold to me as a proven adult in the winter of 2021 and arrived in my possession on March 11, 2021.
About: “Lyra (CG8 RS)” is a female gargoyle gecko with a mottled reticulated base pattern, a whitish-yellow base color, and red blotching.
Lineage: Sprinkle x Rain (Hector x Spike)
Lyra’s father “Sprinkles” is a male reticulated gecko with a dark yellow base and some small patches of orange-red blotches, but he fired down with a much lighter base. Chris Wilkinson sold “Sprinkles” to Specialty Herpetofauna who then sold him to Autumn in the winter of 2019. Autumn renamed “Sprinkles” to “Eclipse”.
Lyra’s mother “Rain” is a female reticulated gargoyle gecko with a very deep and dark red base, her base pattern is heavily pigmented as well, and she has some deep red blotches but they are hard to see due to her deep base. She was produced by Chris Wilkinson of The Motley Gecko in the spring or summer of 2018 out of a pairing between “Hector” and “Spike”. The maternal grandfather “Hector” is a male reticulated gargoyle gecko with a yellowish base and light orange-red blotches, he has thin aberrant bands across his back and neck. The maternal grandmother “Spike” is a 2009 female reticulated gargoyle gecko with a deep and dark muddy-red base, and she has small orange-red blotches.
Breeding History: Lyra is a proven breeder that has bred in 2020 and 2021 as part of Autumn’s breeding projects. In 2020 she laid 8 clutches of eggs and produced some nice blotched offspring. At the end of 2020 she was paired with “Ember” who was on a breeding loan from House of Lizard. Ember is a male reticulated gargoyle gecko with a reddish-orange base and a banded base pattern, House of Lizard purchased him from Michelle, but he was produced by Got Geckos out of a pairing between “Pig” and “Strip”. Lyra has been less productive in 2021, she laid four sets of duds and only one set of fertile before arriving with me.
